John Wright, son of Sam & Gertrude" Immigration of The Irish Quakers Into Pennsylvania, 1682-1750 by Albert Cook Myers, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, 1902, p. 395: John Wright was the son of Samuel Wright who married 9 mo. 4, 1754, at Huntington Friends' Meeting, now Adams County, Gertrude Wierman, daughter of William and Gertrude (Sietman) Wierman. Samuel died probably about or prior to 1781, and Gertrude married secondly, William Ferguson, widower, of Menallen. She died in 1802, having had 8 children by her first husband: John Wright married Ann Griffith; Hannah, died unmarried; Rachel, m. 6 mo. 13, 1781, at Menallen Meeting, James Hodgson, son of John and Martha Hodgson, of Berkeley County, Virginia. Child: James.; William Wright, married Agnes Tanger. Children: Agnes and Margaret; Jesse, married first, Alice Hammond, and had one child, Samuel; married secondly, Catharine Davis, and had one child, Jesse (married Elizabeth Mantz. Children: Eliza and Jane); Benjamin Wright married first, Hannah Hendricks. Went to Kentucky and married a second time; Samuel Wright married Eve Latchew. Children: Hannah married Nathan Harris and removed to Salem, Ohio, Jane married Daniel Minnich; William; Jesse married Susanna Pittendorff; Phebe married Ferguson. Samuel Wright, father of John Wright, was the son of John Wright and wife Elizabeth, from Castleshane, County of Monaghan, Ireland. Settled in Menallen Township., York, now Adams County, Pennsylvania as early as 1748, members of Warrington M.M.
