Facts and Events
John Worbey was baptised on 13th October 1831 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, son of Ann Worbey, formerly Stokes, and her husband John Worbey, an agricultural labourer. John was the couple's eldest child.
John appears in the 1841 census living with his parents and siblings at The Riddy, a small group of cottages which stood in open fields a little way to the south-east of the town. The family was still there in 1851, when John was described as an apprentice shoemaker.
John died as a young man when he was only 24 years old. He was buried at Hitchin on 10th May 1856. His parents both survived him.
