Philip Wideman, reported on line 7 of the form, is assumed to be the father of John Wideman. "b UC" stands for "born Upper Canada". Although by 1861 the present province of Ontario had been named Canada West for twenty years, some people (including this census enumerator) referred to it by its former name of Upper Canada.

Billings and Campbell was the census or enumeration district indicated on the 1881 census. There no current reference to Campbell, but Billings is a small township on Manitoulin Island. Algoma District originally covered most of Northern Ontario, but has since been broken up into independent districts, including Manitoulin District which covers the large island of Manitoulin and some surrounding smaller islands.
