John Whitford was born in Berlin, N. Y., Sept. 6, 1823, and died of pneumonia in Milton Junction, Wis., Jan. 7, 1901. Brother Whitford was one of fourteen children born to Joshua and Avis Satterlee Whitford, and a grandson of Eld. William Satterlee. He made a profession of faith in Christ, in the ordinance of baptism, administered by Eld. O. P. Hull, and united with the Albion Seventh-day Baptist church, Nov. 6, 1852. He afterwards united with the Utica Seventh-day Baptist church, of which he remained a faithful member till death. On March 8, 1855, he was married to A. Jane Burdick, a daughter of Willet Burdick. Two daughters were born to them, one of which passed on before the father to the blessed land. The widow, one daughter and several grandchildren survive him. G. J. C.
