    JOHN WELLS, of Newbury and Boston, bro. of Thomas (of Newbury who married Mary Pecker), "house carpenter," b. ab.1641; m. March 5, 1668-9 [Nb], MARY GREENLEAF; oath al. and fid. at Nb., May and again Oct. 1669; member Nb chh. in 1670, '71, and '74; both living in Nb in 1677, when he sold land in Hv. He was to build frames for three shops for Timothy Babb of Boston in 1673, and was of Boston Nov., 1677. His name appears in the Nk. Co. rec. of Hm. and S. courts, as defendant in civil cases, 1677-'9, the plaintiffs living in Hv. and S. In one case relating to a bond, dated Jan., 1677, he is reported "out of ye contrey" [county ?], Oct. 1678.
