John Warren's origins have yet to be established. His first sighting is in 1770 at Luton in Bedfordshire, when he witnessed the marriage of Elizabeth Arnold and John Mardell. The following year, John married Elizabeth's sister, Mary Arnold. One of the witnesses to their marriage was a Thomas Warren, who was presumably a relative. John and Mary appear to have had a son baptised in Luton in 1772, before moving to the neighbouring parish of Wheathampstead where they had a further four children baptised between 1776 and 1786. They have yet to be traced after the baptism of their youngest child in 1786. |
