Sir John Warburton, knt. who died in 1572, in the fifty second year ofhis age and was buried in the church of Great Budworth where amonument remains to his memory. Of this gentleman there is a fulllength portrait in the hall at Arley, and amongst the family papershis rent-roll, a very singular document, is to be found. It is formedof skins of parchment stitched together, upwards of ten yards inlength and about a foot in width. The names of the tenants arewritten in a neat character, and the armorial ensigns of theWarburtons are emblazoned at the top. Sir John m. Mary, daughter ofSir William Brereton, of Brereton, in the county of Chester, and had,with other issue,
