1775 - Baptism: Jno, son of Jude WALLAIS and Sarah.

1841 - John is widowed and living in the Street, South Lopham, Norfolk. Blacksmith, aged 65, born in the county. Living with him is his son George, and also Elizabeth SAUNDERS, aged 65 - possibly a housekeeper.

1845 - John was buried with his wife, Alice. Their memorial inscription, as transcribed by the Women's Institute, reads: In/ memory/ of/ JOHN WALLIS/ who died/ January 11th 1845 [wrongly transcribed by the Women's Institute as 1815]/ aged 70 years/ In/ memory/ of /ALICE WALLIS /wife of JOHN WALLIS /who died June 20th /1838 /aged 65 years/"Dear honoured parents we must trust/ your precious bodies to the tomb/ here in the Churchyards halowed dust/ sleep calmly through night transiew [sic] gloom/ so Jesus slept Gods only son/ passed through the grave and blessed the bed/ sleep as He slept till from His Throne/ be heard the call awake Ye dead". Footstone reads: JW 1845 AW 1838.
