Facts and Events
Emigrated to Canada shortly after his marriage. He sailed from Greenock aboard the "Duchess of Bedford" on the 24th May 1930, this was two weeks after Mary his wife had sailed. His occupation was recorded as miner, and he travelled with two companions George Kennedy of Ship Mill Annick Lodge, a Miner and Henry Rodger of Torranyard a Labourer. In Canada he took 9 years off his age to get a job, but this meant working 9 years past retirement before he qualified for a pension. At one point he was secretary of the communist party of Canada and went on communist party delegations to Moscow. Image Gallery
