Facts and Events
It is possible that, like his brother Aaron M. Tullis, John went West to California. According to an article in The [Placerville] Mountain Democrat, April 18, 1891, a "Captain John Tullis" discovered gold at what became the Tullis Mine in El Dorado County, CA, in the early 1850's. It states that he was a brother of A. M. Tullis who was murdered near Sacramento. It further states that he had been in Mexico prior to that time.
