Facts and Events
Information about John Tripp and his English ancestry was obtained from an article "Some Observations on the Ancestry of John Tripp, Emigrant to Portsmouth, Rhode Island" by Neil D. Thompson, in "The Genealogist," Volume 10, Number 2, Page 195-199, Fall 1989. John Tripp was married three times, and had five children baptized in Horkstow in Lincolnshire. The will of John Tripp of Horkstow was dated 10 September 1614, and was proved in the Consistory Court of Lincoln on 17 October 1614 (Consistory Court of Lincoln, 1614, Volume 2, No. 29). It was signed by mark. His wife, Margaret Tripp, was named as executrix and his son William Tripp was named as the residuary legatee. Others mentioned included Francis, son of his son William, John, son of his son John, daughter Elizabeth, her sons John Long and John Cresse, and son Robert and his children Thomas and Elizabeth Tripp. No estate was found for his widow.
