John Russell Thornbre, 73, a resident of Weiser for four years, passed away at Weiser Memorial hospital Tuesday evening after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Northam-Jones chapel with the Rev. Edward A. Bawden officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest cemetery under the direction of Northam-Jones funeral home. Mr. Thornbrue was born Dec. 6, 1893, at Fruitland, Wash., and lived for many years at Wenatchee, Wash. On June 19, 1952, at Seattle, he was married to Ora Fletcher. Following their marriage, the couple lived at Bremerton, Wash., where Mr. Thornbrue was engaged in carpenter work. Mr. Thornbrue was a veteran of World War I, serving in the Army. He was a member of the Methodist church, the American Legion and a carpenters' union. Mr. Thornbrue's survivors include - besides his wife, Ora Thornbrue of Weiser - two daughters, Helen Dixon, Bremerton, Wash., and Ruth Ogden, Port Orchard, Wash,; one son, Harry Thornbrue, Bremerton; two step-daughters, Dorothy Feldtman and Helen Johnson, both Weiser; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
