Origins

The original baptism records published early in the 20th century where found to be in error. In 1998 Clifford L Stott republished the baptism records in The American Genealogist Vol 72 p 81-90 and the genealogy of this family was summarized on pages 209-219. Again in 2004 The New England Historic Genealogical Society published the "The Ancestry of Eva Belle Kempton 1878-1908" reflecting the current state of research. In both of these works we find indeed that John Thayer who married 3 August 1589 in JOAN LAWRENCE was the John Thayer baptized 6 May 1561.
