When John Taylor married to his first wife, Susey Sugden, he had signed his mark +. He married to his second wife Mary Coates, widow, they both could write their names in marriage register. He married to his third wife, Sarah Wilkinson, widow and he could write. In 1841 census they were living in Bottom Hall, Lightcliffe, next door to his son David Taylor. In 1851 he stayed at his granddaughter Hannah Brook's (nee Taylor) house in H School shed, North Bierley. Buried on 2nd January 1857 in Moravian Churchyard, Lower Wyke, WRY, aged 87years
