Facts and Events
Typical settler people, taking a lively interest in other people's welfare. They made a good living from ostriches during the boom years. Always hospitable, more often than not the generally large dining room table accomodated a "full house" for Sunday dinner with family and friends, coming either by cart and horse or horseback. In later life they lived in a cottage on their son, Rowland's farm, Fair View, Senekal. According to legend, their first children, twins, died at birth.
