According to "A book of Strattons", John Stratton was born in Weston, Massachusetts on 4 May 1725. He married and settled with his father's family in Glastonbury, Connecticut, where he bought land in 1757, and where he died in 1761.

On April 1, 1759, he enlisted in the French and Indian war, serving 37 weeks. He enlisted again in 1760 and for his services in this year he was paid L11.19, but he died before the amount was paid. The administration of his estate is recorded in Hartford.
