Facts and Events
John and Lucretia had surviving children Thomas Fletcher 1848; Ann Miranda 1851; and Louisa F. 1853. Thomas emigrated to Kansas. I have not found Louisa after 1870, or Ann Miranda after 1880 -- they may have married or died. In the 1850 census for Washington, Ripley Co., Indiana, John S. Stoops is 37, a farmer from Kentucky. His wife Lucretia is 24 and their son Thomas F. is 2 -- all born Kentucky. {p.320}. They are next door to his sister Eliza and husband Jesse Alexander. In the 1860 census for Washington, Ripley Co., Indiana, John S. Stoops is 40, farmer from Kentucky; with Lucretia 38; Thomas F. 13; Anna 10; Louisa 8 -- all born Kentucky -- and Mary Jane (Ruble?) 14, KY. {p. 468} In the 1870 census for Clay, Dearborn Co., Indiana, J S. Stoops is 51, farmer from Kentucky; with Lucretia 49 KY; Meranda 19 and Louisa 16 -- both born Indiana. {p. 436} |
