    "9. … John3 (Stoddard), (21) b. Wethersfield, Feb. 22, 1674-5; m. W., Nov. 19, 1696, Sarah Camp, … dau. of John and Mary (Sanford) Camp. In 1712-15 he was one of the petitioners for the incorporation of Newington, as a separate ecclesiastical society. He was one of the proprietors, and an early settler, of the town of Litchfield, Conn., where, according to the family record and gravestone, he d. Jan. 22, 1727-8, 'aged 53.' The Litchfield town record notes the death of Ensign John Stoddor, but gives no date. His widow d. L., May 28, 1742, according to the town record, while the family record says 1743."
