BAKER'S BODY IN OVEN
Coroner Decides Against Inquest
ADELAIDE, Friday.
After an extensive police search by car and foot, the body of Mr. John Stevenson (31), part-owner of a bakery business at Mylor, was found in a badly burned condition inside an oven of his bakehouse yesterday afternoon.
Stevenson was reported missing to the Stirling police early yesterday morning, and an intensive search was made of the streams and scrub near the town. At 2.20 p.m. Constable Sanderson with two Alsatian dogs, arrived from Adelaide to join the search.
While endeavoring to get a scent for the dogs near the bakehouse, the body was discovered by an employe of Stevenson, Albert Victor Osborne.
The door of the oven was closed, but not fastened.
Mr. Stevenson ran the bakery business in conjunction with his brother, Mr. Norman Stevenson. The dead man had been in ill-health for some time. A report of his death was prepared by Stirling police and submitted to the coroner. It has been decided, however, not to hold an inquest.
