John Snyder was born 1720, and died April 1760 in Culpepper, VA. He married Mary.
Notes for John Snyder:
John came to VA from PA sometime before 1742. John Snyder first appears in Virginia in 1742, when he witnessed the will of Michael Wilhoite, a German Pioneer."Mr. Barrickman states that John Snyder came to Virginia from Pennsylvania and that he was born in 1720." He is not mentioned in the Orange Co. VA tithables as late as 1739, so probably came to Virginia around 1740. He and his wife Mary were granted land by Lord Fairfax in 1747, and he died in Culpepper Co., VA in 1760. His will, made in 1760 and probated April 17, 1760(Culpepper Co. W. B."A", p.214), was written in German and translated by Rev. George Samuel Klug, the second pastor of Hebron Lutheren Church. It divides 270 acres of land among his three sons, John being the eldest, Adam the next, and Michael the youngest; directs that the three sons together pay 17 pounds to his five daughters to be equally divided among them as their portion instead of the land; and leaves the rest of his property to his wife, and after death to be divided among all eight children; witnesses, William Cawl, John Knuesbay and Henry Huphman.
ON the 17th of November 1756, John Snider and his wife Mary sold 234 acres of land in Brumfield Parish Culpepper County Virginia. John Wiland gave 22 pounds and 11 shillings for the land. (taken from the actual deed by Guy C. Snyder).
Children of John Snyder and Mary are:
+John Snyder II, b. Bet. 1740 - 1750, d. 1798.
+Michael Snyder, b. Bet. 1750 - 1755, d. 1815, Madison, VA.
