DEATH SUMMONS ANOTHER PIONEER

John Sneider Died Monday, A Few Days After Celebrating 92d Birthday. John Sneider, who on Tuesday, June 12 celebrated his 92nd birthday, died at noon Monday in the home of his daughter Mrs. William Eberly, 627 Rawson, avenue. His death was caused by the infirmities of his advanced years, complicated by pneumonia. Surviving to mourn his death are 11 children, 45 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Spieldenner, of Croghan street. The children are; Mrs. Henry Widman, John Sneider, Frank Sneider, Gephart Sneider, and Mrs. Eberly, of Fremont; Mrs. Edward Koster, Mrs. Joseph Giebel, William Sneider, Benjamin Sneider, and Roman Sneider, of Toledo, and Mrs. Norman Matthes, of Lakewood. Funeral arrangements had not been completed, Monday; but it was known that the rites would be held in St. Joseph's church, of which Mr. Sneider for many years had been a member. Mr. Sneider was born in Austria, six miles from Lake Constance, Switzerland, on June 12, 1836. He learned the carpenter trade in "the old country," and when he was 17 years old came to America. Since that time he made his home in Fremont, and for many years, as long his health permitted, he followed his chosen work. A few years after coming to Fremont, he married Miss Mary Ann Reineck. Twelve children were born of this union, one of whom, with the mother, preceded Mr. Sneider in death. Mrs. Sneider died 20 years ago. Mr. Sneider was one of Fremont's most respected and esteemed pioneers; always honest and industrious, he was an expert workman and helped in the building of many of Fremont's best known homes and commercial buildings. He was a devout member of the church and of several of the parish societies. The community will mourn the death of one of its sturdy builders and extend sympathy to members of his family.
