I've been helping my dad research our family tree, and have read your messages on the ancestry.com Smola message board. I've posted a couple of messages, but I thought I should write to you directly, as you haven't posted a message on that board for a while (maybe it's no longer fruitful for you!). Anyway, as it seems you know a lot about the Smola families, maybe you can help us. The particular Smola in my family was Frances Smola. I don't know her birthdate, but I guess it could be anywhere between 1790 and 1815. She married Francis Jungwirth and they had a son, John/Janos Jungwirth in 1830, in Pest/Budapest. We have evidence that both father and son may have served in the military in Hungary prior to 1854, in which year John moved to Australia. John soon married an Irish lass, Agnes Lynch, and they had children together. John died later on as a result of an injury recieved during a drunken brawl with his wife's nephew. He came to Australia with the huge wave of migration for the Gold Rush. He wasn't a mere gold-digger though. He owned quite a large gold-mining company, and also a tannery shop. Maybe these clues show evidence of a family trade, I don't know. I shouldn't bore you too much with more details!! I hope you can be of assistance to us, Sincerely, Chloe Jungwirth Replied with my information but received no response. References
