He immigrated in 1735 to America. It took 3 months for the journey. One source says he comes from Germany and another says Switzerland. He first settled in the eastern part of the colony of MD, then went to Washington, Co., Pa.

During the Narragansett War he lost his possessions and almost lost his son, Andrew, who was captured and scalped by the Indians. Andrew was returned after 7 months.
