J R Sempill was born Dec 4, 1798 on Foot Street, Frederiksted,St. Croix (Santa Cruz), to John Sempill and Anna Maria Rennger Sempill, he was baptized into the Presbyterian faith in 1798. He married Anna Ruan c1831.S2
J.R. Sempill was a Free citizen, a planter and proprietor of his own estate and granted his Burgher Brief on Oct 6, 1824. He was the Captain & Chief of the Center Division, West End Company(Danish)Militia. His estate was located at Butlers Bay & Prospect Hill, in the Northside A Quarter of St. Croix.S2
John Rengger Sempill graduated from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 1817. He returned to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, where he married.S2
