"SEALY. - Edward Sealy m. Elizabeth, wid. of James Howard, and D. of John Washburn, and settled in W. B., and had Benjamin 1693, John 1697; his will 1698; names his ss. Benjamin of Easton (or North Purchase) and John of Bridgewater. The family all went to E. John of E. m. Sabrina, D. of Jona. Snow Esq. 1818. - The name is now generally written Seele or Selee."
[Note: the alleged marriage of John in 1818 would be when he was 121 years old according to the presented birth date, and clearly is talking about a different man, not the one born in 1697. Mitchell appears to been very sloppy in his age calculations! Note that the will of "Edward Sealley" of Bridgewater [Plymouth Probate 17769] names son Benjamin and son John with no further description. From their birthdates we know they are very young minors at the time, so living at home. Mitchell's identification of their residence is based on some other evidence, not in evidence here. The will gives Benjamin 2/3 of Edward's interests in Taunton North Purchase, but the other third in the same place is given to John, and all Bridgewater holdings are given to his widow.]
