From Dee: Also I know which spectacle manufactory they worked for, it was Dolland and Aitchison in Sparkhill or Sparkbrook, not sure, I know firm’s name. All the Seals had their glasses from there. My granddad told my dad he had his from there because Uncle and sister Harriet Seal, Fred’s daughter worked there. I know my Aunt Lily and my dad had theirs there too, so do my mother and I. And I believe that gt gt gt granddad John Seal had a pair for his one good eye and one plain glass for blind one. When he died they took the lens and had it reground to make a spyglass or magnifying glass. My granny seal used it to read her letters when she couldn’t find her specs. Funny the things you remember.
