    The maternal grandparents of our subject John and Nancy (Keith) Scott, natives of South Carolina, and the former a Revolutionary soldier. They went from their native State to Tennessee thence to Indiana, and about 1818 came to this State on pack-horses. They established themselves in Sangamon County, but about a decade later changed their residence to DeWitt County, and spent the remainder of their lives in Waynesville Township.
