Information on John Sayre

John Sayre was born on 4 June 1738 at 38 [58?] Broad Street in New York City. He was the son of John Sayre and Esther Stillwell; he married Mary Bowes, on 28 September 1758 at Christ Church in Philadelphia - from "Record of Pennsylvania Marriage Prior to 1810" Volume 1, by Clarence M. Busch, 1895. Mary Bowes was born on 5 March 1739 in Trenton, Mercer county, New Jersey, the daughter of Sir Francis Bowes and Rachel le Chevalier. John and Mary had been neighbors back in New York City and, later, in Philadelpia they became step-"brother & sister" after their widowed parents wed in 1751. Mary (Bowes) Sayre, sife of John Sayre, died on 11 January 1789 in Bloomsbury, New Jersey. [Source: http://shissem.com/Hissem_Sayre.html]
