    John, a tanner, with good estate, came from Earl's Colne, County Essex, England, to Htfd., 1674, where he bought a house-lot on the present Park; m. about 1690, as 2d wife, Hepzibah (wid. John) Pratt of Wethersfield. He d. 20 Dec., 1694; inv. £1,901, 5s. 10d.; his wid. d. 20 Dec., 1711 - Htfd. Co. Mem. Hist., i. 275. His wife, Hepzibah, and son, John, went to law over his will, 1690, she endeavoring to recover her share of the Pratt estate. There were debts due John Sadd's heirs for money borrowed for the country's service, May, 1696 - £260.
