Mr. JOHN ROSS, NGAHERE. There passed away at Ngahere yesterday morning another member of the old brigade in the person of Mr. John Ross, well known in these parts of the Coast. The late Mr. Ross arrived in New Zealand in the early 60 s and was present at the big Otago rushes, and later came to the Coast. He was at Hokitika and subsequently conducted a bakery business at Bed Jacks, and then removed to Nelson Creek when he purchased an hotel, and in one way and another had business connections with this district for 40 years. During the last five months the deceased had been in failing health. The late Mr. Ross, who was 76 years of age, was highly respected and a popular figure throughout the Grey Valley. He leaves a family of three sons and one daughter, who will have the widespread sympathy of a host of friends in their loss.
