John Allen Root, 81, of Pasco, Wash., died Tuesday at Lourdes Medical Center.
Mr. Root was a native of Elk City, Okla. He had lived in Pasco since 1992; he previously lived in Modesto 63 years and also lived in Empire and Waterford. He was a member of the Old German Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, ; brothers, ; sisters, ; and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Old German Baptist Modesto District Church. Burial will follow at Wood Colony Cemetery, Modesto. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, Modesto.
