John H Rinehart was the son of Mary "Polly" Henderson of Greene County, TN and Jacob Rinehart of Virginia. John H was born as one of the oldest children of the couple after they married in 1809 in Greene County TN, but he was probably not the oldest child. All the early Tennessee census's before 1830 no longer exist and there is no known record of all his parents' children, but John H probably had at least three or four sisters and an older brother and younger brother. The earliest existing 1830 census lists 3 male children, one 20-29, one 15-19(John H?), one under 5yrs. Jacob and Mary were both 40-49, and three teenage daughters: two 15-19 and one 10-14. (It's worth noting that by the 1850 census, none of the male sons were living in the same vicinity as their widowed mother, but two of the daughters were.)
