Thought I'd share this--I just received a copy of Page 1 Column 6 Bolivar Herald newspaper dated Sept 24, 1903 which included a note on the death of my Great Uncle Richard.

Grandma Emory is on the sick list. J.H. Jump recently bought Marion Vest's sorghum mill. Miss Callie Ingram has gone to California. John L. Hood is building an addition to his house. James Mainess and family have gone to Christian County. Jesse Bennett has moved from Star Ridge to west of this place. Lawrence Westfall and family of Mt Zion have moved into the Jenkins house which J.W. Rentfrow vacated. He has rented land from James Rentfrow. I wish to correct an error which occurred in my last writing in regard to the saw and grist mill belonging to John Carroll and Robert Jump. They set it at Rimby postoffice instead of on the creek, as stated in my last writing. Frank Page and wife of Elgin, Oregon who have been visiting relatives and friends here for a few weeks, will return to Oregon in few days. Ed Fellers and family will accompany them to the far West to seek their fortunes, also. The first frost of the season came on the night of Sept 16th, but did comparatively no damage other than slightly nipping some of the late corn that was still green, tomato vines and some other tender vegetation. The turning of stubble preparatory for the sowing of the coming wheat crop is now the order of the day, since the late rains. Richard Sawyers died at his home near Halfway on Sept 14th, of a congestive chill. The remains were laid to rest in the Polk Cemetery on the following day. J.M. Bridges of Goodson and Miss Lizzie Black of Rimby were married recently. Lindley leaped her banks on Sept 13th caused by a cloud burst on head waters. No damage was done.
