Facts and Events
Lived near Berryville, Clark County, Virginia. Moved to Mason County Kentucky in 1783. According to Archibold Remy, his son on his pension claims "John was a butcher in the American Army during the Revolutionary War, the year the American Army lay in New York." He was discharged 16 months later, sometime in the Winter with his son, Archibold. The discharge papers were destroyed when his house burned. He accompanied major John Grigg to Yorktown at Siege of New York, probably as a butcher. After the defeat of Cornwallis, Major Grigg gave them a furlough. They returned and then were discharged, later at Stafford Court House, spending a total of 9 months and 3 days in the Army. |
