"155. Lieut. John1 Remington was first of Newbr; freeman 22 : 3 mo. (May) 1639; in Rowley, 1639; had a two-acre house lot in Rowley, 1643. He brought with him his wife, Elizabeth. She was buried 24 : 10 mo. (Dec.) 1657. He was Lieut. of the first military company formed in Rowley, under the command of Capt. Sebastian Brigham (27).
