Both Sarah Burke and John Slate Pulver represent the sixth generation of the respective Burke and Pulver families for which we have record. Their union brought together two families with ancestors in the Revolutionary War, and whose ancestors have been been traced to the early colonists in America. John Slate Pulver enlisted at age 39 to fight in the Civil War for the Union, 7th Wisconsin Infantry. We have a picture of him in his uniform.
