Green County was created in 1800 and the border of Coxsackie and Athens changed over time.

JOHN BUDDEN of Athens - Will Probated March 15, 1836 in Green County, NY Heirs: Wife, Rachel; two daughters: Mary, wife of Lewis Cornwell and Betsey, wife of Morris Edwards. This is really John Budden. Ancestry catalogued it wrong. If you look at the will it is Prudden, not Budden. Proof for John Budden and John Pruden being the same person: In Ancestry there is a will that they have catalogued as John Budden. If you look at the actual will it is John Prudden. His wife Rachel is named in the will along with daughter Betsey who married Morris Edwards, son of Rachel Edwards. Also Ancestry does not list probate for John Pruden, just John Budden (per Ancestry). I find probate for Rachel Pruden, not Rachel Budden. In the 1820 and 1830 Censuses for Greene Co, NY I find only John Pruden, not John Budden.
