REDKEY, Ind.--John S. (Jack) Powell Jr., 74, died Monday in Ball Hospital, Muncie, after a long illness.
Mr. Powell was born in Indianapolis and lived most of his life in Redkey.
He was a machinist. He retired from Indiana Glass, Dunkirk, in 1981 after 33 years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Local 501 American Federation of Glass Workers Union, Halfway Lodge 298 F&AM, Halfway Order of the Eastern Star 230, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, and American Legion Post 401.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Donna; a son, Rex O. Powell; a daughter, Lois Nauman, Gaston; a brother, Roger Powell, Brownsville, Tex.; a sister, Geraldine Mathews, Battle Creek, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Jones Mortuaries Chapel. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, where Redkey American Legion will conduct military rites. Calling will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, where the Halfway Lodge will have masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
