On 6 November 1785 traveling Lutheran Minister Christian Streit baptized John "Poh", son of John Poh and wife Anna Margaret, in the area of Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia. His diary for that day indicated "Held Sacrament at Newtown, 15 communicants; preached on the Gospel, Christ the God Who helps us in the time of death. In the afternoon preached in Winchester on the same subject. Baptized in the evening the following children:"
1. Elizabeth Scharer born October 8; parents Philip Scharer and wife Rosina; sponsors Conrad Cramer and wife Catharine
2. Jacob Sload born October 26; parents John Sload and wife Barbara; sponsors Jacob Grime and wife Maria Magdalena
3. John Poh born October 30; parents John Poh and wife Anna Margaret; sponsors John Sload and Mrs. Lauck.10
