John married Isabella Gillery, daughter of Colonel Sir Thomas Gillery, (who served with much distinction in the Army of William III and buried at Windsor Chapel.) John inherited his father's musical talent and in his turn succeeded his father as organist at the Temple Church 1740; at St. George's Chapel 1719 and Eton College 1733.
