From “Glasgow past and present” by Robert Reid, publ. 1884 (or 1856) by David Robertson: Mr. John Orr, the grandfather of our present very active Chief Magistrate, resided in Saltmarket. Francis Orr, father of our Hon. Lord Provost, Andrew Orr was born 1765 in the Saltmarket. Mr. Francis was only 1 year old at the death of his father Mr. John Orr, who like Francis was a stationer. “The 4 Misses” - Agnes, the eldest was 16 in 1745. Her mother died 1739 and father 1741. Agnes became grandmother of our late Lord Provost, Sir Andrew Orr, and his immediate agnates, also of Mrs. Bell, wife of David Bell, esq. References
