The Arcadian Weekly Gazette, 6 Sep 1899, p 7 - John Olmstead died at his home on Silver Hill, south of Newark, last night, aged seventy-nine years. Mr. Olmstead had lived on his farm many years. He was a good neighbor, an honest man in business, and a good citizen, respected by all. He had been ill, and running down for several years, and had been blind for some time. He is survived by the wife, three daughters, Mrs. Mahlon Spear of this village, one who lives in the west, and Miss Delia Olmstead, who lives at home. There are five sons, Samuel, Hamilton, Frank, Dorr and Rose. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at half past two at the house. |
