Information on John Oliver
- John Oliver was bound for England when he made his will on April 19, 1652 (recorded June 16, 1655) and evidently never returned from England. He mentions wife Ellen and gave his son John and two daughters land at Blackwater (Book 2-79) . Gov. Berkeley hadgranted John Oliver 300 acres on the Blackwater on July 2, 1650 (Book17c-541).
- On January 5, 1666, John Collins who married Eleanor, daughter of John Oliver, and John Wakefield who married Mary, daughter of John Oliver, deeded (with their wife's consent) this 300 acres to John Branch. Source: Historical Southern Families, Volume II by John Bennett Boddie.
