  • Knockanalban townland is in the Parish of Kilmurry-Ibrickane Parish. The O'Halloran Family lived on a farm in the North East corner of the townland on the Killernan Road near Ahy Bridge. This was also known as Mount Scott. There were subdivisions in this townland that the locals used to differentiate their area. The O'Hallorans were from Knocknageragh. The others subdivision names were: Loughaneliegh, Freehanes, Parknageehy and Quartermyer. Another names that were used in the parish records were Ahy or Ahy Bridge. This name was not used in the civil records.

In the General Valuation of Ratable Property in Ireland, Union of Ennistimon in County of Clare on Sept 12th 1855 in the Townland of Knockanalban Ordinance Survey maps 60, 31, 38, 39 for the field numbers 33 - 38 John Halloran is listed as occupier of 2,4,2,3,2,8, acres respectively. In 1862 there was a transcition and I believe his son, John Halloran received the property. He and his wife, Bridget Curtin raised their family until 1879 when John halloran died and Thomas Griffin was now listed as the occupier. Thomas Griffin married to Bridget Curtin Halloran the widow of John Halloran. Thomas lived their with his famly until his death, circa 1920 when his son, John Griffin received the property. In 1927 Thomas O'Gorman received ownership until 1957 when Cornelius Curtin received ownership.
