Originally surveyed by Jack V. Horton and Ralph H. Allred of Gadsden, Alabama on 8 Feb 1964; completely resurveyed by Robin Sterling 4 May 2002

Many of the older markers are flat stone slabs even with the ground with hand carved inscriptions which, over time, have weathered to an unreadable state. Some of the missing stones reported during the 2002 resurvey are probably those.

1900 U.S. Census Alabama Blount All Townships ED# 16 Apparently Altoona was not a big town in 1900, and they were still undecided about what Conty they were in. This appears in District 16, Rays and Thompson, Blount County, Alabama

Nix and had 12 children in Mississippi. but by 1900 her husband was dead and she came to Altoona and lived with her brothers , actually half brothers, I wonder what contact the two families had from 1850 to 1900, one living in Alabama, the other in Southern Mississippi. At least 200 maybe 300 miles apart. At that time she had only one full brother living in Alabama. That was Daniel and he was getting very old. He was living then with his second wife Nancy Turner. Tyre and Thomas Alexander both died during the Civil War, and William had returned to South Carolina before the War.

Strange that Grandaddy never mentioned anything about her. He would have been 20 plus at that time, and for sure would have known about her.
