"On April 6, 1762, John Newton and wife from Marlborough were warned from Worcester -- 'now at the house of David Cunningham'. Warrant returned May 10, 1762. It would seem that John Newton and his wife Sarah had come to Worcester with a view of settling there -- her native town, and were stopping for a time with her sister, the wife of David Cunningham. It was the custon to "warn-out" every strange from the town [note: more than a "custom", it protected the town from financial liability in case the transients became in need of welfare].
"Mr. Newton soon became a citizen of Worcester and his seven children were born there. No deaths in this family on record in Worcester. Where they moved to does not appear. No settlement of his estate there."
