Jefferson County, 12 March 1804. John Moore wrote a will leaving property on French Broad River, at the corner of Parmenas Taylor, to his son-in-law John Hill. The rest of his landed estate was left for his son, John Moore, when the latter came of age; the widow was to manage the estate until that time. He left one horse, saddle bridle, and bed to each of his daughters, Sarah and Mary. "Friends Alex. McClanahan and Parmenas Taylor executors." A John Moore seems also to have witnessed the will. (The John Moore who wrote this will is probably the younger son of James I, and the brother of James II. The John Moore who witnessed the will could be the son of James II. Alexander McClanahan is presumably the Alexander McClanahan who married Sarah Moore in Botetourt County 1788.--Info and comment from John Glenn.)
