- 1795, Sept 13: John MONTGOMERY, LW&T. Probate Oct 1795. Wife: not named. To Samuel, 200 acres on McKees Creek, adjoining land of Nehemiah Harrison and the Governor's line. To James, 200 acres on the south side of the creek adjoining land of Samuel Harris. To Robert, rest of land and a horse. To James and Robert, farming tools. To John, 50 pounds, two years boarding on the farm, a colt. Daughters Elizabeth (Johnston), Mary (Irwin), Isabella and Ruth (unmarried). To Ruth, may live with her mother during mother's life and then he brothers must build her a house on the land. Executors: Thomas Irwin, Nehemiah Harris. Witnesses: John Gingles, Daniel McCauley (proving witness). Wills B, 135.
Land Records
- 9 Nov 1773, John Mountgomery, late of the Province of Pennsylvania, purchased three tracts in Mecklenburg Co, NC, from William Harris of St Pauls Parish, Georgia (later Richmond Co): (1) 278 acres, (2) 240 acres, and (3) 112 acres, a total of 630 acres, on the waters of McRees (error for McKees) Creek.
- 20 Nov 1785, John "Megomery" witnessed a deed whereby Daniel McKeemins and wife Margaret sold John McKeemins land on both sides of McKee Branch of Reedy Creek.
- 21 Feb 1786, John "Mtgomery" witnessed a the LW&T of Daniel McKimmon.
- 20 Nov 1785, John MONTGOMERY ("Megomery") witnessed a deed where Daniel McKeemins and wife Margaret sold John McKeemins land on both sides of McKee Branch of Reedy Creek adjoining the Governor's Dividing Line.
- 1795, Sept 6: John MONTGOMERY bought at a sheriff's sale 23 acres on McKee's Creek adjoining land of Robt MONTGOMERY.
