Muncie – John V. Meredith, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, March 25, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1924 in Muncie, the son of Joseph T. and Enid V. (Vandeveer) Meredith. John graduated from Burris High School in 1942 and Indiana University Law School in 1948. He served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII, and served in The Battle of The Bulge.
John owned and ran the family business, Delaware County Abstract Company his entire life. He was a member of the Muncie Elks Lodge #245. John enjoyed going to his cabin, fishing and collecting antique cars. He was an avid reader and loved to do cross-word puzzles.
Survivors include two sons, J. Todd Meredith of Muncie and Paul Meredith (wife, Melissa) of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Melissa Meredith (partner, Linda) of Madison, WI and Jennifer Buchanan (husband, James) of Portland, ME; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Bennett (husband, Robert) of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Lindsay Buchanan.
Private family services will be held.
