Will of John McMannis
- Will of John McMannis, farmer, gives to his dear and loving wife, Ann McMannis, if she comes over her present infliction, her living off the place and it and the negro man Moses are not to be sold until her death. Wife to keep all her household effects &etc, and all the other household effects and domestic property is to be sold immediately at public sale, and likewise if wife dies of her present illness as to her effects, and Moses to be then hired out until there is made up 250 pounds, and then he be set free, and the 250 pounds to be given as follows, to his children.
- To son John McMannis, 50 pounds, to daughter, Margaret Morgan, 50 pounds, and to stepdaughter Ruth Williamson 50 pounds.
- All just debts to be paid previous thereto. If Moses should die before the sum is made up, then the said legatees are to have an equal proportion of what is available.
- Appoints son George, and William Welch as executors.
- To stepsons George Williamson and Moses Williamson, one cow each. July 28, 1805.
- Witnessed by Thomas Stafford, George Bishop and Richard Mills.
- Probated October 2, 1805.
Records in Kentucky
- Squire Boone was assigned a 1500-acre tract by William Peyton which included Floyd’s Fork, Elk Run (later Chenoweth Run), Fern Creek, and other fertile homesteading sites. Boone sold it in parcels, one being 100 acres to JOHN MCMANUS on 29 Aug 1791.
- John McManus is shown on the 1800 Jefferson County, Kentucky Tax List dated 3 Sep 1800.
